Touching Eros

This novella is written as a personal journal. The story follows a writing teacher's restless search for beauty, love, and the mysterious force the Greeks called Eros. The writer's girlfriend, Miranda, is more than happy to join him. She has her own journal, and her own way of looking at the world. While he is cynical and constantly complaining about what he sees, struggling to make sense of why they came to Greece in the first place, Miranda writes things like, "e;Ah, rose, your petals seem to betray..."e;During the course of their travels to Athens, Santorini, and Paros, the writer comes to realize that Eros is not just about romantic desire. It's also about the longing and receptiveness that drives art and imagination, and electrifies the senses. The question then goes to the heart of Eros itself: how to find a way to live life completely awake and free.
