to disappear into light

South Africa, 1974. Apartheid has hardened into a suffocating stasis. Beneath the outward calm of white supremacist rule, however, forcesare gathering that will soon erupt in the townships. Ekko and Gina are white university students, rivals, lovers, andrestless spirits. Meeting in secret, they read Frantz Fanon s TheWretched of the Earth, whose uncompromising vision begins tooverturn everything they thought they understood. As Fanon sideas take hold, the unthinkable begins to seem not only possible, but necessary. If violence sustains an unjust state, can violence also help to bringit down?Convinced that they must act, Ekko and Gina embark on a coursethat will test the limits of political resistance and of what theyare willing to become. A searing political novel and a profound reckoning with spiritualtransformation, To Disappear into Light is Peter Anderson s morallyarresting call-and-response to his earlier novel, The Unspeakable.
