I Am Mauve Steele

When Chaos erupts in Sapphire City, longtime producer and DJ Mauve Steele watches the world he helped build begin to fracture. In the aftermath, Mauve and his lifelong friend Benji bring together the artists of Void 35X Records for a benefit concert. But as Mauve searches their catalog for the songs that belong onstage, the music keeps pulling him somewhere else, back through the people and moments that made him who he is.A middle-school dance. A Yamaha DX7. Friday nights with Benji and Lila. First loves and heartbreaks. Songs born from unexpected moments. A record label that gradually became a family. Each memory reveals another piece of a life Mauve has always understood more easily through music than words. And as the concert takes shape, he begins to recognize something he never fully understood: his own identity has been shaped by every person whose life has touched his. What begins as an effort to help Sapphire City recover becomes a deeply personal journey through Chaos, The Void, and unlocking Serenity. With an original accompanying soundtrack that brings the music of the story to life, I Am Mauve Steele is a novel about friendship, love, chosen family, nostalgia, and the beautiful accidents that shape us, and what it takes to finally become comfortable enough to live honestly as yourself.
