In 1975, near the Lake of the Ozarks, there was a rustic five-cabin retreat called Shady Rest, located close to Gravois Mills, a charming small town in Morgan County, Missouri. It was within walking distance of Gravois Creek, a popular spot for sailing, water skiing, and fishing for tasty catfish and various kinds of bass.It was August 22. The summer day was warm, and most of the cabins were occupied except for a few. Mary Holmes and her 14-year-old son, Caleb, were staying in cabins 4 and 5. They were heading to Silver Dollar City and planned to stay just two days to hike, fish, swim, and reconnect after Mary's contentious divorce from her husband.Caleb would face his fears, looking forward to having fun and forgetting about his father for a while. He would find himself confronting the supernatural world, dealing with his own fears, and a moral dilemma.Robert Cooper, a middle-aged Hispanic man exuding class and quiet confidence, was not entirely what he seemed.
