Bride Who Never Came Home

In June 1907, Ada Merrin disappears before her wedding ceremony, leaving behind a farewell note, abandoned luggage and a village eager to believe she has eloped. Her family turns to Marian Vale, the genuine medium of The Lantern Parlour, and Florence Wren, whose careful interviews and records keep grief, rumour and fact distinct. Ada's spirit offers only fragments: a torn veil, blue paint, a brass key and a bell at the wrong hour. The impressions suggest possibilities but no complete answer. Florence follows the physical trail through wedding records, a carrier's book, financial ledgers and paint evidence, while Marian listens for what Ada herself remembered. Together they uncover hidden debts, divided loyalties and a mystery centred on a long-closed dye mill near the Yorkshire coast. As Inspector Edmund Rook tests the evidence and living witnesses begin to speak, Marian and Florence must decide how far trust can carry them—both in the investigation and in the private future they are only beginning to imagine. Atmospheric, compassionate and quietly romantic, this Edwardian maritime mystery blends restrained supernatural suspense with a slow-burn love story.
