Chapter 1: The Girl in Pink

Mia never believed in love at first sight. Then she walked into the café wearing a pink dress, carrying a broken umbrella, and arguing with the rain. Alex noticed her immediately. "Barbie," he whispered. She heard him. "Excuse me?" "Nothing."

Alex was everything Mia disliked: confident, rich, charming, and annoyingly certain of himself. He appeared wherever she went. At the bookstore. At the café. Even outside her office. "You're following me," she accused. "I prefer calling it destiny."

On her birthday, Mia found a pink gift box outside her apartment. Inside was a beautiful bracelet and a note: For the girl who refuses to be anyone's doll. She immediately knew who had sent it. Alex. She called him. "Why?"

Their relationship began with arguments. Mia refused to be controlled. Alex secretly admired that. One evening he said, "You're my Barbie doll." Mia stared at him.

Alex needed a date for a family event.

Mia agreed, mostly to annoy him. They arrived holding hands. His family immediately adored her. His mother whispered, "She's perfect." Mia nearly choked. Alex leaned closer.

Mia discovered Alex's former girlfriend, Clara, had returned. Clara was elegant, wealthy, and determined. "You don't belong in his world," she told Mia. Mia smiled. "Neither does he belong in mine." Alex overheard.

Alex finally admitted the truth. His perfect confidence was an act. His father controlled his career, his relationships, and almost every decision he made. "I've spent my whole life being someone's perfect son," he confessed. Mia touched his hand. "Then stop being perfect."

Alex's father threatened Mia's career. To protect her, Alex ended their relationship. "I don't love you anymore." Mia believed him. She walked away without crying until she reached home.

Months passed. Mia became stronger. She stopped waiting. Alex became colder. One day Mia discovered the truth about the breakup. He had sacrificed their relationship to protect her.

Alex didn't touch her. "Tell me to leave," he whispered. Mia looked into his eyes. "I won't." "Why?" "Because I still love you."

Clara announced her engagement to Alex's brother. The family prepared for a grand wedding. But Clara had one final plan.

Alex's father disowned him. For the first time, Alex felt free. Mia stood beside him. "You lost everything." "No," he said. "I finally stopped losing myself." They left together.

Mia opened her own fashion studio. Her first collection was inspired by childhood dolls. But she changed the concept. The models were different heights, ages, styles, and personalities.

One evening, Alex brought Mia back to the café where they first met. There was a pink box on the table. Mia opened it. Inside was a simple ring. No diamonds. No extravagance.

Years later, Mia kept the old pink bracelet in a small wooden box. Their life wasn't perfect. They argued. They disagreed. They changed. But they never stopped choosing each other. One evening Alex looked at her and smiled.

"You're still my Barbie doll."

Mia raised an eyebrow.

"Careful."

He laughed.

"My favorite Barbie," he corrected.

She kissed him.

"And you're still my ridiculous Ken."

Outside, rain tapped against the window.

Inside, two imperfect people had built something better than a perfect fantasy.
