Twelve Lectures on Jurisprudence

Twelve Lectures on Jurisprudence: Legal Principles in Literature and Film is a university-level textbook developed as part of Beijing University of Science and Technology's institutional curriculum plan. Designed primarily for first-year students in the Social Sciences Experimental Class, as well as self-learners with an interest in law, this book serves as an accessible introductory textbook in jurisprudence.

Distinguished from existing textbooks in the field, this volume offers several unique features:

First, it employs aesthetically engaging media-films and literary works-as entry points for introducing legal principles. This pedagogical approach enables learners with no prior legal background, including first-year university students and independent learners, to grasp foundational legal concepts and knowledge in an enjoyable, aesthetically enriching manner.

Second, in response to the prevalent issues of abstract theorization and didactic dryness found in many jurisprudence textbooks, this book utilizes films and literary narratives to demystify and render accessible complex legal doctrines.

Third, this textbook is grounded in the forthcoming online course Jurisprudence: Legal Principles as Presented in Literary and Artistic Works, scheduled to launch on China's University MOOC platform in 2024. The book systematically transcribes and elaborates upon the course's scripted content.

Organized into twelve thematic lectures, each chapter analyzes legal principles through the lens of carefully selected films and literary works, guiding students step by step through the most fundamental knowledge of jurisprudence.

本书是北京科技大学校级规划教材，针对大一社科实验班学生及对法学感兴趣的社会学习者，是一本法学入门的通识类教材。该教材与现有教材相比，具有以下特点：第一，以电影和文学作品等具有审美性的载体作为法学原理的引入方式，帮助没有接触过法学的社会学习者或大一学生掌握法学的基础原理和知识，让学生在审美和愉悦中学习。第二，本教材针对现有法理学教材普遍存在的理论抽象难理解、枯燥性等问题，以电影和文学作品降低法学原理的理解难度。第三，本教材以2024年即将在中国大学慕课上线的课程《法理学--文学艺术作品中的法理呈现》为基础，是对慕课脚本的系统化呈现。教材将法学原理分为十二讲，并通过电影、文学作品进行分析，帮助学生了解法学的最基础知识。
