The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Simplified for English Learners (A1) | Graded Reader with Vocabulary

Level: A1 - English for Beginners

Real literature - reachable from day one.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, retold in simple, beginner-level English, is the perfect way to start reading English for beginners without getting lost in a dictionary.

This graded reader keeps L. Frank Baum's beloved story - Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion, and the Wizard of Oz himself - while simplifying vocabulary and grammar to a genuine A1 level. Every sentence is written for someone just starting out: present-tense narration, everyday vocabulary, and short, clear sentences throughout.

What's inside:

• All 15 chapters of Dorothy's journey through Oz, told in accessible A1 English
• A 10-word vocabulary list after every chapter, with simple definitions and example sentences
• 5 comprehension questions per chapter to check your understanding
• A full answer key

Who it's for:
Perfect for adult ESL learners tackling English for the first time - whether you're studying for work, preparing to move abroad, or just want to read something in English that isn't a children's board book. No prior English knowledge assumed beyond the basics.

A note on this edition:
This is a simplified adaptation, not the unabridged original novel. Sentence structure, vocabulary, and grammar have all been intentionally leveled to A1, so some of Baum's original descriptive language has been trimmed. If you want the full unabridged classic, this isn't it - but if you want English for beginners that still tells a real, beloved story, this is exactly that.

Part of the Classics for English Learners series from Bilingual Learning Press. Also available in Spanish, French, and German editions of the same story.
