The Great Cat Caper

Five barn cats. One doctrine. Three children who have no idea they're being herded.

On a Texas ranch, the five Polkey barn cats have made a discovery: tangle yourself around a child's ankles at precisely the right moment, and the child goes where you want. By mid-morning they have a plan, a chain of command, and a body of sacred law roughly an hour old - which they treat as though it were handed down by ancestors. The mission: move the three Polkey kids across the property to a goat that needs saving. Careful Bethan. Gwen, who narrates everything. And eight-year-old Jacob, who will taste anything once.

What follows is a flung brisket, a show-off Labrador, a tube of something Jacob should not have tasted, a goat in a fence, and a longhorn with strong opinions about fences. The cats are certain they are running the entire operation. The cats are certain about a great many things.
