Traditional Chinese opera is a treasure of Chinese culture. Over its long course of development, Chinese opera has been deeply rooted in the soil of people's lives, expressing the emotions of family and country, celebrating the national spirit, articulating social ideals, and continuously innovating in its methods of expression, thereby creating a unique artistic style and demonstrating strong vitality.

Anhui is a fertile land for opera. The once widely popular Qingyang Opera reflects the golden age of Chinese opera during the Ming Dynasty, and its echoes can still be heard today. During the Qing Dynasty, the Anhui troupes sang as they traveled, acting like mobile sowers of opera. After they made their way to Beijing, the Anhui and Hubei opera traditions merged, incorporating both pihuang and erhuang melodies, leading to the formation of Peking Opera, which catapulted Chinese opera to its peak. In the modern era, Huangmei Opera has spread across the country, showcasing its brilliance in the garden of Chinese opera.

安徽是一方戏曲沃土。风靡天下的青阳腔，映照着明代中国戏曲的高光时刻，至今遗响不绝；清代徽班且歌且行，如同流动的戏曲播种机，进京之后，徽汉合流，皮簧并奏，形成京剧，将中国戏曲一举推上巅峰；及至当代，黄梅戏传唱大江南北，在中国戏曲百花园中尽显芳华。
