The Calm After The Checkered Flag

Avery Lurant Duval is just another high school girl with messy hair, bruised arms, and a backpack full of books-at least, that's the life she lets the world see. But behind closed doors, Avery lives a double life: she's a professional F1-level racer, breaking records and defying limits, all while keeping her secret from everyone, including her golden-hearted boyfriend, Ethan.

When Avery isn't navigating the thrills and dangers of the racetrack, she's navigating the pressures of normal teenage life: classes, homework, gossip, and friendships. Her world becomes even more complicated with the weight of family secrets-her parents are the heads of one of the most powerful mafia families in the world. Avery changed her name to survive, and racing is the only place she can feel free, even if it's just as dangerous as the life she left behind.

As Avery pushes herself to new speeds, she also strives to live with integrity, using her winnings to help others anonymously, refusing to become the person her parents expect. But balancing adrenaline, secrecy, love, and morality is never easy, and every lap, every choice, and every secret carries a risk that could expose her entire world.

The Calm After the Checkered Flag is a story about courage, loyalty, and the thrill of being yourself-even when no one knows the real you exists. It's a story about running fast, loving hard, and learning that freedom comes at a price, but sometimes, it's worth everything.
