Sweet December

One treacherous blizzard. Two cozy days. Three lives tangled together for good.

Lucy Jarvi is barely holding it together. A struggling real estate agent with a secret writing life, she's always been the family underachiever, the dreamer who never quite measured up. Now, after her sister's unexpected death, she's the sudden guardian of her five-year-old nephew, Leo, and this pre-Christmas getaway to a remote Upper Peninsula cabin is supposed to be her chance to bond with him and honor her sister's memory by being the mother he deserves. What she doesn't expect is to find the cabin already occupied by Jordan Jamieson, an NFL quarterback whose career-ending injury has left him as lost as she feels.

Jordan came to his family's isolated Michigan retreat to clear his head. Torn between a return to fame as a sportscaster and a quieter existence in the wilds of the Upper Peninsula, he's paralyzed by indecision. The last thing he needs is to be snowed in with a beautiful woman and her curious nephew. But somewhere between reading Curious George and making Christmas cookies with a woman who has never heard of him and wouldn't be impressed if she had, he begins to remember who he was before the spotlight swallowed him whole.

Lucy knows better than to fall. She's done the math on heartbreak, and she's not willing to put Leo through one more loss. Jordan knows he should get on that plane and chase the broadcasting career waiting for him.

The last thing either of them needs is a holiday distraction.

And yet.
