Statesville After Dark

Most everyone wants to believe they grew up in the grandest place on the face of the earth. Then without fail, some horrendous person or event shoots their claim full of holes.

That is certainly the case in the charming metropolis of Statesville, North Carolina. Scenically situated at the foot of the Brushy Mountains, for over half-a century, Statesville billed herself as "The Best Town in North Carolina." But, despite her pretentiousness, she was hiding some disturbing skeletons in her closet.

And Steve Hill, armed with dozens of chilling stories and an arsenal of provocative musical ballads, flushes them from the darkness into the streets.

Join him on a sobering journey through the intoxicating past of his beloved hometown. Let him introduce you to the menagerie of shadowy spirits he has grown to know and love over his lifetime of experiences there.

This captivating homespun historical narrative (enhanced with a dusting of oral tradition and tempered with as much light-heartedness as the subject matter will afford) is an unforgettable jaunt that will keep you awake at night wondering, "If this could happen in the best town, just think what could happen in the worst?"

You might even be forced to re-examine your personal belief in fate and discern your own relationship with those trapped in the shadows of the hereafter.
