KENNETH "KENNY" GARNER is from San Antonio, Texas. He is a man who knows exactly what it means to fail in life. He's been at the bottom, and then some. Fortunately, his story didn't end there. He is now the founder and CEO of Garner Made Books, a devout Christian, a devoted father, a published author, a writer, a poet, an educator, a certified barber, a success ful entrepreneur, a savvy businessman, and the founder of the GAMEPLAN. Mr. Garner has several more projects planned for the future. Mr. Garner's goal is to give hope to the men and women serving time and inspire those on the outside to live up to their full potential. Mr. Garner's mission is to win souls to Jesus Christ and provide quality literature to inspire, impact, and influence generations, one word at a time. 4 SPITTING ON BRICKS Spittin' On Bricks (S.O.B.) Magazine, one of Kenneth Garner's projects, is a unique publica tion he created. It all started in the fall of 2017. Kenneth was sitting alone in a prison cell. It was a rough time in his life, and he was crying out for strength, comfort, and guidance. God gave Kenneth two verses: John 9:6 and Isaiah 61:1. John 9:6, ESV Having said these things, He spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anoint ed the man's eyes with the mud. One of the most disrespectful things you can do is spit on someone. Saliva is often consid ered vile, nasty, and disgusting. Yet Jesus used this substance to give a blind man sight. Mr. Garner realized that many people consider prisoners to be vile and nasty. Prisoners are the saliva of society. Just as Jesus used the literal saliva to heal others, He can use the figurative saliva (prisoners) to do the same. Prisoners are often confined to cinder-block boxes, cells of concrete and steel, with bricks as their primary scenery. And so the "Spittin' On Bricks" concept was born. The goal of Spittin' On Bricks Maga zine is to take what people thought was no good and watch God transform their tragedies into triumphs. Isaiah 61:1, ESV The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. Reading John 9:6 inspired Mr. Garner's platform. Reading Isaiah 61:1 gave Mr. Garner his vision. The vision of Spittin' on Bricks is to share Jesus Christ and the power of REFORM with millions of men and women who are broken and need to experience true freedom, whether or not they are incarcerated. This vision is also to help people understand that God has a purpose for them - and to give them an avenue to express that purpose to the world. This issue of Spittin' on Bricks magazine is dedicated to all those who are incarcerated. I know that you know what it feels like to lose someone you love while doing time. That is why I am dedicating this issue to my mother, Robbie Jackson Finley, who passed away during my incarceration, and Momma Eve over at Real Vida Ministries. Stay strong, Jeremy and the Real Vida team, and Nicco Reyes. They will be missed by their families and those in their community. May God give the family peace and strength.
