We can observe several ways of understanding the concrete world that exist. These representations seek to construct a reality that is intelligible and shared by a social group. They are based on the subjectivity of the individual who formulates them, the reality of the object, and the social system that frames the subject-object relationship. As they are socially and collectively developed, shared, and generated, these representations serve to interpret the social environment and to analyze "the regulations carried out by the social metasystem within the cognitive system" (Doise et al. 1992: 13). They develop around an object whose complexity prevents us from having a comprehensive view of it. To gain access to it, it is necessary to better understand the object in order to better control it.
