The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes brings together the last twelve adventures of Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary detective. In these late stories, Holmes investigates a sinister aristocrat, a missing soldier, a stolen crown jewel, a suspicious vampire, a mysterious death on Thor Bridge, a creeping man, a fatal encounter by the sea and the hidden scandals of old houses and respectable families.

The collection reveals Holmes in some of his most unusual roles: detective, strategist, observer, retired investigator and, in two stories, narrator of his own cases. Dr Watson remains central to the world of Baker Street, yet this final volume also experiments with perspective and tone, giving the last Holmes stories a distinctive place within the canon.

First published in book form in 1927, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes was the final collection of Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. It is presented here as Volume 9 of The Complete Sherlock Holmes Collection, arranged according to the order of original publication.
