Lucas is no longer only saying what he can do. He is expressing intention, celebrating growth, and choosing a dream.

Welcome to 루카의 꿈 (Lucas's Dream), Level B1.1 in the Read Korean Without Guessing series and your first step into TOPIK II. After Seoul routines, travel, customs, and casual speech with Minji, Lucas now begins to think, decide, and move forward.

What Makes B1.1 Different?

A2.2 gave you permission, prohibition, obligation, counters, comparisons, ability, and casual speech. Now you begin to express your inner world: opinions, conditions, possibilities, advice, intentions, predictions, contrast, and register choice.

• Register - 박 사장님께는 존댓말을 써요. 민지한테는 반말로 말해요. Learn 합니다체, 해요체, and 반말.
• Opinions - 한국은 좋은 나라라고 생각해요. 내일 비가 올지도 몰라요. Use −다고 생각하다 and −(으)ㄹ지도 모르다.
• Activities - 쉬는 날에는 사진을 찍거나 산책을 해요. Use −거나 and −기도 하다 for "or / things like."
• Growth - 좋은 사진을 찍을 수 있게 됐어요. Use −게 되다 to show change over time.
• Conditions - 날씨가 좋으면 사진을 찍으러 가요. Korean uses −(으)면 for both "if" and "when."
• Advice and intentions - 매일 연습하는 게 좋아요. 참가해 보세요. 대회에 참가하려고 해요.
• Future, while, contrast - 어려울 거예요. 음악을 들으면서 일해요. 연습했는데도 긴장했어요.

The Story Continues
