Born into a family of military heritage, Qi Jiguang devoted over forty years of his life to military service. At the age of seventeen, he inherited his father's post and was subsequently stationed in Shandong, where he honed his skills in coastal defense against Japanese pirates and helped build a strong maritime shield along the coast. He then led the legendary "Qi Family Army" to suppress the wokou threat in the southeast. Later, he spent sixteen years strengthening the northern frontier defenses, bringing relief from the scourge of war to the people of the Ji Town garrison region.
