Are postmodern philosophy and Christian thought so diametrically opposed that "never the twain shall meet"? Or are various postmodern philosophies, in spite of their secular provenance, open to religious appropriation? From the Christian side, it is all too easy to see postmodern philosophy as nothing but an implacable enemy, while those with postmodern sympathies see Christianity as the embodiment of the hegemony which it so forcefully opposes. Thinkers from Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish perspectives engage Nietzsche, Heidegger, Derrida, and Foucault in explorations of the epistemological, theological, literary, ethical, and social issues provoked by bringing postmodern philosophy into dialogue with Christian thought.
