The snow was sticky and slippery under his feet. He kept looking all around, but he saw no sign of the sheep. No doubt about it, they were out. He gave up finding them in the pasture and headed straight for the upper gate. Just as he figured, it was standing wide open. He swept through it, his anger boiling.
