From Franks to Merovingians

The history of the first five Frankish kings

When Pharamond married the Frankish priestess/princess Argotta, they united the bloodline of the Franks with the bloodline of King Aminadab (5th Grandmaster of the Holy Grail).

"The descendants of Pharamund and Argotta emerged in the ancient Nazareth tradition to become the 'long haired sorcerer kings."

Their son Clodion married Basina I, and he captured and established the Franks in the city of Tournay. His son, Merovee, was involved in a family dispute regarding the inheritance from his father.

The Merovingian dynasty of France was eventually established through Merovee.

As Priests/Kings, Mérovée and his son Childeric followed the pagan cult of 'Arduinna of the Ardennes' and were keepers of ancient knowledge.

Childeric had strong connections with the Byzantine emperor Zeno.

The Arcadian/Troyan heritage of the Franks was well known in these times.

Childeric's tomb testifies that he was the richest man during the period of the downfall of the West of the Roman Empire.

Childeric basically laid the foundations for his son Clovis to become the first King of all of France.

The most famous of all Merovingians is certainly Clovis I.

He is considered by historians as the first king of the whole of France, but actually being the first king of large parts of western Europe.

Clovis had made (after lengthy negotiations) a pact with the Roman Catholic Church, receiving the title; "The new Constantine", he became the sword of the church, and made Paris the capital of the Frankish empire, as his father had done before

Clovis, was also an Eastern Roman official, and was crowned by emperor Anathasius in Tours receiving the purple tunic (Chlamys), which only Emperors and Patriciates wore, and placed a diadem on his head in Saint Martin's Church (in Roman times, a diadem was only appropriate for Emperors).

Symbols that held value to the Merovingians included the bee, that was revered as a representation of wisdom. The honeycomb, the bee's residence, was supposed to symbolize the divine harmony of nature because it contained interlocking hexagons.

Other symbols with significance to the Merovingians included the crescent moon, stars, and the fleur-de-lis, a symbol with two curved side petals and a central straight petal.

The Franks integrated remarkably well into Roman society, speaking Latin fluently, obtaining Roman citizenship, and often being promoted by the Emperor to consular ranks (including senatorial ranks) for their competence. Some of them were even granted the clan name Flavius by the Imperial family.

The Early Middle Ages are commonly known as the "Dark Ages', which portray a time of decline, turmoil, and darkness after the Romans left the Western European regions. But in reality, this was a prosperous time with many contacts/connections with other parts of the world.

The image of Merovingian kings and their hair, which takes on a nearly magical property, has fascinated generations of historians.

The Merovingians were a dynasty of Frankish Priest-Kings who were believed by their subjects to have magical powers derived from their long hair. There were rumours of witchcraft, fortune telling, and crystal-ball gazing, among others.

The Merovingians were thus continuing a practice of sacral kingship that had existed since classical times.

The Fisher Kings flourished for 300 years. The eternal motto of the Fisher Kings was 'In Strength' - inspired by the name of their ancestor, Boaz (the great-grandfather of King David), whose name meant 'In Strength'.
