She sent Orestes away when he was nine years old to protect him from Aegisthus, and then she waited for him to come back, and the waiting became the structure of her life - ten years of counting days, of maintaining a faith against the evidence of years when no word came, of watching the man who helped kill her father laugh in the rooms of her father's house.

ELECTRA: WHAT SHE KEPT is a literary novel about endurance as resistance, about the specific cost of refusing to accommodate the version of events that makes the unbearable bearable, about what ten years inside a house where something terrible happened does to the person who stays and watches and will not look away.
