This book focuses on the design and construction of a high-voltage circuit-breaker simulator. It is intended to test the operation of the protection switchboard and enables faults to be simulated using a current injection box. The design is based on the use of a bistable relay, three current sensors to read the current, and a PIC16F877A microcontroller programmed using the MikroC compiler; the latter enables the currents to be displayed on an LCD and stored in an EEPROM. The control box plays a very important role; it facilitates communication between the network and the circuit breaker via current transformers (CTs).
