D.O.T.S.

What if the answer to your problem already exists-just in a field you never thought to search?

The world organizes knowledge into disciplines. Problems do not.

D.O.T.S. is a way of seeing beneath the labels we place on problems.

DECONSTRUCT the problem to expose its underlying structure. OBSERVE where that same structure appears somewhere else. TRANSFER only what truly crosses domains. SYNTHESIZE the pieces into a possibility that fits the real context.

But a clever connection is still only a candidate.

CREATE carries it into reality: CONSTRUCT it, REALITY-TEST it, EVALUATE the evidence, ADAPT what needs to change, TRANSLATE what works, and EXTEND the learning.

Drawing on stories from technology, public service, decision science, systems thinking, everyday life, and cross-disciplinary innovation, Darren Dang offers a practical discipline for learning widely, connecting carefully, and creating something useful.

You cannot connect a dot you never collected.

Your next useful idea may already exist somewhere you have never thought to look.

Collect Dots. Connect Dots. Create Something New.
