We Will Never Forget

September carries a weight that time has not erased. This year marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001-a day remembered for unimaginable loss, profound grief, extraordinary courage, and countless acts of compassion.

For many, the images remain painfully vivid. Families lost loved ones, communities were shaken, and people around the world watched events unfold that would change history. Behind every number was a human life-a parent, child, spouse, friend, colleague, neighbor. As we remember, our first responsibility is to honor them with dignity.

In this September 2026 issue of Christian Times Magazine, we reflect not only on tragedy, but also on the enduring Christian call to remember, pray, serve, and pursue peace.

Scripture reminds us, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). Twenty-five years later, there are families for whom the grief remains deeply personal. We remember them in prayer. We also honor the firefighters, police officers, emergency workers, medical personnel, military members, clergy, volunteers, and ordinary citizens who responded with remarkable courage and selflessness.

Remembering September 11 should do more than take us back to a painful moment. It should challenge us to consider how we live today. In a world still marked by conflict, fear, division, and hatred, followers of Christ are called to be people of reconciliation, compassion, truth, and hope.

Our faith does not ask us to ignore suffering. It teaches us to enter the places of sorrow carrying the light of Christ. It calls us to love our neighbors, comfort those who mourn, reject hatred, defend human dignity, and become peacemakers wherever God has placed us.

As you read this commemorative issue, may these pages encourage reflection on the lives that were lost, gratitude for those who served, and renewed commitment to building communities shaped by mercy rather than resentment and hope rather than fear.

Twenty-five years have passed, but remembrance remains.

We will never forget. And as Christians, may we also never forget our calling to love, to pray, to serve, and to be instruments of God's peace.
