Author of 12 novels, Hugo and Nebula award-winning novelist Octavia Butler, is readily identified as an African American feminist and science fiction writer. Octavia Estelle Butler died Friday February 24, 2006 at Northwest Hospital after a fall at her home in Lake Forest Park, Washington. She was 58.
