Diaries and bundled letters tied with faded ribbons from eight Italian girls reveal the trials and deprivations of World War II, Italy. After the discovery of these writings, Anna befriends the stranger in the mirror; thus unraveling the truth about the eight young women in war-torn Italy whose lives were fortuitously intertwined in the 60's in San Francisco, resulting in a lifelong friendship. This novel is in part inspired by actual events during World War II.
