Accidental Wizard

Chris and Kenny only meant to walk through the giant fallen log at the end of Grandpa's trail. Instead the world explodes into fire and thunder, and the twins crash-land in a medieval kingdom on the losing side of a war. A dying blood mage summoned them on purpose-and now Chris is expected to take his place.

The trouble is the price. In this world, magic is paid for in blood. Every spell Chris casts-fire from his fingers, a stunning flick, a lock torn open-opens a fresh wound. They call it the mulct, and the bigger the magic, the bigger the cost. Kenny, meanwhile, is handed an enchanted sword that never loses and a mail shirt that turns blades aside, and told he's a knight now. Ready or not.

To get home-and to stop a dragon-sorceress whose army is already crossing the Wide Waste-the boys must find a staff sealed inside a mountain since Merlin's day. Between them and the prize stand flying blood wolves that hunt mages by scent, a valley of shape-shifting trolls, a traitor riding a war-wolf, and a one-eyed pirate the twins were certain they'd already blown up.

Fast, funny, and built on courage, quick thinking, and brotherhood, Accidental Wizard is Book 2 of The Accidental Adventures Series-adventure the way it's supposed to be, with the good guys outnumbered, outmatched, and refusing to quit. Perfect for readers of Tom Swift, Ranger's Apprentice, and Fablehaven, and for any young reader who thinks he doesn't like to read-until the fire starts shooting.
