Six years ago on Christmas Eve, I lost my mom, sister, and fiancée in a violent car wreck, and when I break down in Star Lake, Minnesota, three days before Christmas, finding love was the last thing on my mind.

From the moment my eyes met hers on a dark sidewalk in a shitty little messed-up town, I knew my life would never be the same. With my feelings out of control, I quickly fall in love. As I get to know Evie and my protective instincts kick in, I realize something isn't right. The town treats her like an outcast, and I want to know why. 

The more questions I ask, the more questions I have, digging up secrets that are thirty years old. Something happened between Evie's mother and her father, something someone now will do anything to keep hidden.

Including killing the woman who I hope will one day be my wife.

Since my mom passed away seven years ago, I've been trapped in this town, and I never thought I would find someone to share my life with, until I meet Sawyer.

I don't know why he's fascinated with me, and while I want to trust him, something holds me back. He's only in town because his truck broke down, and even though he says otherwise, I know I'm not enough for him to stay.

When he starts asking questions about my past, things turn nasty. He uncovers secrets someone thought were long buried, and I'm going to have to decide which is stronger-the legacy my mother and father left me or the love and family Sawyer says can be mine . . . if I say yes.
